Story of Stuff, Full Version; How Things Work, About Stuff
MySpace Friend Me! www.myspace.com www.storyofstuff.com Story of Stuff, Full Version; How Things Work, About Stuff From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It’ll teach you something, it’ll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever. ©Tides Foundation & Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License.

@parsonphotography Would you then agree with showing Lee Doren’s critique of The Story of Stuff to the 7th grader after showing them the original Story of Stuff?

I didn’t see any facts. All I saw was a pretty slick animation of one woman’s opinion passed off as fact becasue she supposedly spent “..ten years tracking it all down all over the world.” So I am supposed to disregard all of my experiences and all other sources of information and accept this cute little presentation as “…the facts”? Feel free to do so, I prefer to think for myself, thank you.

… all comrades will report to the rice paddies after indoctrination, and don’t forget your red scarf, or you will be beaten for the good of the collective.
…best way I can think of to stop my head from catching on fire is to ignore Liberal BS. Otherwise we’d have to be thinking of a way to ban breasts becasue they are toxic, and I just can’t get my head around that, I’m kind of fond of breasts….
… the accuracy and comprehensiveness of this womans entire argument can be summed up by her summarization of how computers work. Her ludicrous oversimplification of this small aspect of her presentation is typical of how she oversimplified and distorted the entire subject.
… thats it, she convinced me. I am going back to my cave. Where is my loin cloth and club? Doh! I threw them away. Damn commercials….
The Solution is an Equal Money System for all from ‘birth till death’ so all may provide for themself practically.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! crazy hippies make me LOL! ;)
@Cunhajo THANK YOU!!!!! someone who understands!!!
Sum1 worth giving a nobel prize or sumthin similar, excellent job! THANKYOU FOR SUCH AN INFORMATIVE VIDEO!
You know, a lot of the negative comments that get posted to videos like this are individuals who work for these governments and corporations and are specifically planted there to divert your attention from truth. Yes, people, it IS that serious, and yes, they ARE that desperate to keep you on the band wagon. It is, after all, what keeps them rich and powerful. So, by all means, DO think for yourselves, because truth will rear it’s head when you reflect on it.
… apparently then consumption chain for propoganda and Kool Aid is alive and well, because damn, there are a lot of Kool Aid drinkers out there. But this is nothing new, without Kool Aid drinkers, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, etc. would never had been able to do what they did.
Our generation is to messed up with this BS that we do nothing about it. This would be an excellent video to show in kindergarden etc. to give the next generation a fighting chance to do something for themselves to help the planet.
Wow, stop the presses!
Seriously, if you did not know about this prior to watching this, just wow.
Anyone should realize our rate of consumption cannot be sustained. When we reach that point there will be enough bullshit to worry about, save your boycotts and enjoy the stability of the now. Believe me, You’ll have plenty of time to protest later on.
I wonder how you people are watching this? through magic? or perhaps through some sort of electronic device manufactured by a company?
@Cunhajo cunhajo you are a prat or a plant. We ARE a planet of finite resorces: FACT. We ARE all encouraged to consume, consume, consume: FACT. if you truly cant see those two simple truths then I’d disagree with your statement that you prefer to think for yourself as you obviously have low brain capacity, but then thats what happens to something that gets washed to much - it invariably fades.
if i could like this a million times i would. very eye-opening. :) you changed my consumption life!!
this would be a really good instructional video for a classroom
Sounds like propaganda.
The OFFICIAL (and AD-FREE) version of The Story of Stuff can be viewed on our channel. Thanks!
Wow, you people are brainwashed. Use common sense. Where do these statistics come from? What commercial interests are served by the people who fund this video? Didn’t George Bush tell people to greive and to pray and to hope after 9/11 (contrary to what the video tells us)? How many scare tactics can you spot?
Of course there’s push back, but in your bones you know this is true. Those of us who are Glen Beck’s age, my age, can remember another time when the country and the lives we lived were different. I’m not talking about the coarsening of our culture or the “whiteness” of the world as we perceived it, but about a time when our mothers made clothes and our fathers took the time to fix things and screw from the hardware store didn’t come in blister packs. You know this is true.
@55frenchman
Please define, Prat or Plant. Please excuse my low brain capacity, but all the other geniuses who have tried to insult me in the past have used actual words that make sense, so I am at a disadvantage. Would hate to miss a good insult…

You seem like an intelligent and sincere individual, and I agree wholeheartedly, but I detest presentations like this that oversimplify the problem andmakeit appear that we can just walk away from a system that feed and employs us all. Yes we have to change, and back to the some of the values you talk about, but how to do this without creating chaos and revolution, that is what we need to figure out, and simplistic offerings like this only cloud the issue.
@polux7809 i wish buddy people are too easily facinated by shiny trinkets
