In response to claims of ‘eve teasing’ (an Indian euphemism for sexual harassment), the Indian government has decided to remove men from some trains, making them women-only. ????? ?????????? ?? ?????

true ,but at least the word MEN is accepted by there media ours men would be referred to as passengers or job titles. in a crash it will be 200 passengers and 20 women was killed today, if it was a train full of men would just be passengers and wouldnt matter apart from the cost, a trainful of women would cause an outrage and raise issues why they there should be 60% of passengers ,brick layers & garbage recyclers to reduce the high death toll of women from happening again

What a wonderful idea. From what I’ve read this was instituted because of unwanted sexual contact/harrassement by strange men on some of the women on the trains. Adding extra trains for women-only is a most feasable solution to combat harrassement in countries where some men feel they can do whatever they want to unsuspecting women and get away with it because of their culture. I am glad to see they feel some sense of safety in travelling with this new endeavor.

Understand that India is famous for its untouchable caste.. literally. These poor folks were beaten, and prosecuted for merely walking on the same road as the privileged caste. Even looking at a Brahmin by an untouchable was punishable offence. India apparently is going back to its old caste system.. women being the Brahmins and men being the untouchables.
@ufapaki Yes, but the problem here is space. Look at how free the female only cars are and how men are hanging outside theirs. By the way, female only cars are notorious for assaults on women.. women in India do not intervene to protect their “sister” against a couple of thugs.. and some have been raped with an all female audience watching and the rape victims that put up a fight got thrown overboard from the moving train. So much for “safe” travel, huh?

Madam, if you don’t know.. it is the power elite that are doing this for votes. Women are actually not safe in female only cars. As the criminal element do not respect such stipulations. Women have been raped in all female cars.. with women watching and no men to stop the rapists – even murdered – amazingly without any witnesses in a car filled with women. Know the ground reality before you spout your hatred.

In some countries, women are in need of protection from “some” of their own men, this is an unfortunate truth. If Indian women (or Egyptian women, who have women-only taxis) feel somewhat safer with these measures, who are you to tell them they are wrong?

State your references because when I googled it, Rapes on regular trains came up, some men in Japan being afraid of being falsely accused of groping/molesting on regular trains came up, feminists being opposed to these trains as a setback for women’s rights came up, but no articles for this happening on these female-only trains.

Have you been to India? Please travel there.. live there for decades as I have. Now I would love to catalog out the history of the daily news I heard.. and the local sense of judging the extent of criminal incidents based on what is reported.. Unfortunately, there is no good way of doing that, unless you actually have lived there. Feminists may want to believe they know everything there is to know about India or that it can be somehow found online. Makes me chuckle every time.
There is a very low rate of rape reported in India per capita.. does this mean India is relatively low-rape zone? LOL! Ironically, feminist claims come from “inner wisdom” and cannot be refuted by empirical data.. on the other everything else needs data easily accessible, neatly organized and readable to the feminist.

Yes, women also generally “feel” that rape will not happen to them – until it does. What is kind of neat here for the man-haters, is that they have put women in a situation where they will be assaulted without restriction by some criminal men. I read about women-only taxis (which I found intriguing) and found through multiple searches that the women in the articles (about these taxis and trains) report feeling safe. No hatred, no “know-it-all-ness”, I’m just glad about the reports that they do feel somewhat safe.
I am not debating you.. despite what you may think. Just letting you know things that are moronic.. Call me anti-woman all you want. You don’t have the slightest clue of the ground realities in India.
As for women-only taxis.. its another thing for me to chuckle. Indeed women-only taxis are safer – compared to women-only trains, but they are definitely no more safer than regular taxis.. But to understand why .. you will need to understand the demographic who use taxis hint: no poor people

But, you make a good point – if they feel safe.. why object? A typical feminist point of view where nothing beyond immediate satisfaction matters – long term effects be damned. Yes, I’ve heard of that. Feminism is destroying the world, and all for the sake of making it pain-free for women. Men go through just as much shit as women do. The difference is, we don’t complain about it.
Also, if I didn’t know EXACTLY why the men are complaining.. I would actually see no problem with giving women – women-only trains.
The problem is I know why those men are complaining! Try smelling an Indian railway station. You failed to note the economic strata of the women interviewed and the men complaining. Men are day laborers who don’t get work if they don’t show up on time; women are upper middle class office workers and students. Women only trains = Starve the poor.
You want to debate? Sure. Where are you getting your facts? Do you know any Indian languages? Because Indians newspapers are largely in local languages not English. Do you know the socio-economic background to where this is happening?
